Steveston Scarecrow Crawl

Steveston Scarecrow CrawlThroughout the month of October, Steveston Village in Richmond is taken over by scarecrows, This year marks the 7th Annual Steveston Scarecrow Crawl, and our 2nd year.

You will find “one-of-kind” scarecrows lurking outside of many of the store fronts and restaurants. This has become an annual tradition for my son and I.  A perfect tribute to autumn, and a fun build up to Halloween. We look forward to seeking out the fun and creative scarecrows around every corner.  Each Scarecrow is cleverly themed to reflect the personalities of each shop, and created by the merchants of Steveston.   These scarecrows are also perfect for a family photo, or selfie!

The creations are ranked on social media for the People’s Choice Award, but the most fun can be had by just taking a stroll through the village to see all the creative decor.

Steveston Scarecrow Crawl

Where: Steveston Village – Chatham Street, SteveSteveston scarecrow crawl ston

When: October 1 to October 31

Directions:  Steveston is located in the Southwest corner of Richmond. Any main artery west will take you to No. 1 Road. Turn South on No. 1 Road and proceed to the end. You’ve arrived!

By Public Transit: Take the SkyTrain’s Canada Line from downtown south to Richmond-Brighouse station. Then transfer to the #402 bus south to Steveston.

This year Sweets and I both agreed on the spooky Witch at Serendipity.  Last year were were at odds; I voted for the creepy Crow at The Fab Pad and Sweets was all about the Fireman at Steveston Built.

The Steveston Merchants Association (SMA) is a key player in organizing this and many of the eagerly anticipated celebrations in the village.  It’s disappointing that many events have been canceled this year, but we are thankful to be able to get out and enjoy this fun event.

Thinking about making a day of it?  Don’t forget to checkout the Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf.  We also enjoy stopping at Starbucks to enjoy java and a Fox coffee.  Better yet check out our  favorite spot, Britannia Brewing and enjoy a bowl of truffle & Parmesan popcorn. Maybe we will see you there. 😉
